7th Grade world Geography: Eastern Hemisphere
A. DESCRIPTION:
Geography is composed of the interrelated components of skills and content knowledge, both of which are necessary
to being a geographically informed citizen. Students will use geographic knowledge as a tool for understanding the
concepts of economics and the impact of recent history on contemporary events. Students will focus on spatial patterns
of human and physical characteristics of the world and its peoples, and will explore how these patterns form, change over
time, and relate to one another in the Eastern Hemisphere.
B. ORGANIZATION:
This is a lecture, cooperative/group and hands-on learning class. 7th Grade World Geography covers the regions of the eastern hemisphere. This class is designed in accordance with Oklahoma State Standards. Students will use prior knowldege to complete geographic charts and graphs as well as maps, essays, to be completed by students both during class periods and outside of class as homework. Students will complete the Daily First Five, upon entering class, and map quizzes are given at the conclusion of each new region. Students will complete a Semester 1 exam and a Second Semester comprehensive final exam.

- To introduce students to various forms of geographical representation and to selection of representations appropriate to specific needs.
- To introduce students to time and quality drafting production requirements.
- To orient students to the range of drafting methods, topics, and occupations that characterize the field.
- To provide students with opportunities to develop basic drafting skills in respect to sheet composition, working neatly and accurately, lettering, and line drawing.

F. GRADING:- Grading is in accordance with Lawton Public Schools standards and are on a 100 point scale.

- 59 - Below - F (can be resubmitted for a better grade, request must be in writing with parental signature)
Quizzes -
- There will be several map and other quizzes. Quizzes will relate to current and previous topics. A quiz may be given at any time during any class period -- immediately after a lecture, at the beginning or end of a class, etc. Make-up quizzes -- will be done during 8th hour only. Quizzes may also be given as a pretest for specific units and as a method of ensuring students understand the content and as a method to ensure that they are taking proper classroom notes.
